The experience behind the camera

I studied photography in college and have spent years learning the technical side of creating an image — light, composition, exposure, posing, and all the little decisions that happen behind the camera before you ever see the finished photo.

Before taking C + C full-time, I also spent 13 years as an elementary school teacher. And honestly? That experience has become one of my biggest strengths as a photographer. I’m comfortable with kids, I can read a room, I know when to give direction and when to let things unfold, and a little chaos doesn’t scare me - I can improvise literally anything.

So while I want your session to feel relaxed and easy, there’s a whole lot of experience happening behind the scenes. You don’t need to know where to stand, what to do with your hands, or how to get your kids to “cooperate.” That part is my job.

A few things I love
(besides taking photos, of course)...

I love cooking and baking from scratch, making ordinary things feel a little more special, and finding any excuse to create something for the people I love.

I’m also happiest when I have a trip on the calendar — preferably somewhere with mountains, dramatic coastlines, fall colors, or scenery good enough to make me emotional. I will choose the scenic route every single time.

And at home, life is full of my husband, our girls, four cats, a house I’m constantly finding new ways to make our own, and usually some new idea I’m excited to bring to life.
